Cedar Audio Forensic Systems

CEDAR has been supplying tape enhancement systems to police and security forces and to audio forensic investigation bureaux for nearly two decades. Designed to be simple to use, our forensic systems are considered to be part of the standard armoury in these fields, and are fully configured for immediate use. 

In addition to all the standard facilities of CEDAR Cambridge, CEDAR's forensic systems incorporate multiple Adaptive Filters designed specifically for use in audio forensic investigation, integrating them into a single, user-friendly environment for maximum speed and ease of use. Together with a Process Manager that includes an Internal Sample Rate selector, 2-channel tools, and perhaps the most powerful spectrum analyser offered outside of a dedicated audio analyser, these systems offer all the fundamental tools required for noise cancellation and speech enhancement in the fields of law enforcement, covert surveillance and terrorism countermeasures.

A range of configurations are offered, and introductory systems can be expanded quickly and easily to include facilities such as CEDAR's award-winning Dialogue Noise Suppressor, the advanced NR-5™ noise reduction system, precision EQ, Declickle™ for removing all manner of clicks and crackle, Debuzz and Declip, as well as 'spot' processes such as Dethump and Retouch.

The Forensic Audio Modules

There are five dedicated CEDAR Cambridge forensic processing modules in the Adaptive Filter pack, and they represent a significant upgrade on previous systems. Introducing CEDAR's proprietary Out Of Band capability, these filters allow users to retain much more of the energy associated with sibilants and fricatives to maximise the intelligibility of the speech. This makes them far more effective than those that analyse and filter the whole signal in a single frequency band.

CEDAR Forensic Systems allow you to launch and manipulate multiple processes simultaneously, either applying multiple analysers and filters to each signal, or applying individual processes to each channel. This is particularly useful when using the full system, where you may apply multiple noise reduction systems, adaptive filters, declickers, debuzzers, declippers, EQs and analysers in a single pass. All the processes offer advanced graphic tools, visual feedback, and save/recall capabilities that allow you to save your settings, create reports, and recall setups for future reference.
